AISHE 2019-20 Report :
• Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' released the All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) 2019-20 report.
• Total enrollment in higher education stood at 3.85 crore in 2019-20.
• The Gender Parity Index (GPI) in Higher Education improved to 1.01 in 2019-20 (1.00 in 2018-19).
• The student-teacher ratio in higher education in 2019-20 is 26.
• Number of PhD students in 2019-20 is 2.03 lakh.
• The total number of teachers is 15,03,156, of which 57.5% are males and 42.5% are females.
National Current Affairs :
• Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan addressed the first meeting of the World Health Organization's High Level Alliance on Health and Energy Forum.
• The Director General of Health Services (DGHS) issues guidelines for the treatment of COVID-19 in children, discourages the use of remdesivir.
• Bengali director Buddhadeb Dasgupta passed away at the age of 77; 5 of his films won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film.
Economic Current Affairs:
• India's agricultural exports grew by 17.34% to $41.25 billion in 2020-21.
• RBI increased the interchange fee per ATM transaction from Rs 15 to Rs 17 for financial transactions and from Rs 5 to Rs 6 for non-financial transactions.
• IAMAI (Internet and Mobile Association of India) appointed former Supreme Court judge Justice Arjan Kumar Sikri as the chairman of the OTT Players Grievance Redressal Board.
• ICMR approves 'CoviFind' rapid antigen test kit for COVID-19 made by Gujarat based Merrill Diagnostics.
• Government allowed LPG customers to opt for distributor for LPG refills.
International Current Affairs :
• From August, the US will buy and donate 500 million Pfizer vaccines to developing countries.
• Elected President of UNGA, Abdullah Shahid, India's K. Nagraj Naidu appointed as Chef de Cabinet.
• External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar held discussions with his Kuwaiti counterpart Dr. Ahmed Nasser Mohamed Al Sabah in Kuwait City.
Sports Current Affairs :
• Asian Games (1998) gold medalist boxer Dingko Singh passed away at the age of 42; Won Arjuna Award in 1998 and Padma Shri in 2013.
